What is Medlite?

Medlite is a Q-switched ND:YAG laser with wavelengths of 1064 nm and 532 nm. It is used to treat deep melasma, birthmarks, dark spots, and tattoo removal.

How does MEDLITE remove tattoos?

The laser removes tattoos by emitting heat energy to shatter pigment particles in the tattoo ink into extremely fine fragments. These shattered pigment particles are then naturally eliminated by the body through the lymphatic system.

Can Medlite remove tattoos of all colors?

Today’s lasers can remove tattoos in many colors, but the ease of removal depends on the tattoo color and the type of ink used. Yellow, green, and blue inks are more difficult to remove, while red and black are easier. The Q-switched Nd:YAG laser with a 1064 nm wavelength is used for black and blue tattoos, and the 532 nm wavelength is used for red tattoos.

How many sessions are needed to remove a tattoo with Medlite?

Laser tattoo removal requires multiple sessions (more than 3 in most cases), depending on the type of ink and how long the tattoo has been on the skin. The laser removes pigment in the upper skin layer first, while deeper ink in the dermis will require additional treatments. The skin also needs time to regenerate and flush out broken pigment, so treatments are spaced 6–8 weeks apart. Black tattoos typically need fewer sessions, while yellow tattoos are harder to treat and may require more than 7 sessions.

How many sessions are needed to treat melasma (deep pigmentation)?

For melasma, the pigmentation may darken initially for around 3–6 months before gradually fading. A second session is usually done 6 months after the first. Applying medication can help the pigmentation fade more quickly. The number of sessions depends on the individual’s response and will be evaluated by the doctor after 6 months to determine if additional treatment is needed.

What does Medlite laser treatment feel like?

Before treatment, numbing cream is applied for about 1 hour. During treatment, the patient may feel some stinging or burning in certain areas, and slight bleeding may occur on the treated skin. Because the treated area is an open wound, it is necessary to apply antibiotic ointment and cover with gauze on the first day. The antibiotic ointment should be continued for 7 days.

What are the side effects of Medlite treatment?

After treatment, the patient may feel a burning sensation on the skin for 30–60 minutes. Once healed, the treated area may appear lighter than the surrounding skin for several months.
