What is CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is a fat reduction procedure that eliminates fat from the body using cold temperatures. It uses a technology developed by a team of doctors from Harvard University, delivering cold at freezing temperatures of -11 to -13 °C into the subcutaneous fat layer. The cold causes fat cells to die and be naturally eliminated from the body without surgery or suction, leaving no scars. The procedure causes no pain, so anesthesia is not required. After the procedure, no downtime is needed -patients can return to work or resume normal activities immediately.
CoolSculpting is currently the first and only device approved by the U.S. FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for this purpose, with research-proven effectiveness in reducing fat in the body. It is considered the most effective and noticeable method compared to other fat removal techniques.
CoolSculpting Operating Principle
For individuals who have tried every method of exercise to lose weight but still have stubborn localized fat, the vacuum applicator will deliver cold energy under controlled sub-zero temperatures ranging from -11 to -13 degrees Celsius. Alongside strong suction, the intense cold will freeze and specifically target fat cells only. These fat cells will gradually die and be eliminated through the lymphatic system. As a result, the body naturally expels the destroyed fat, reducing fat cells by approximately 20–25%.
Steps for Fat Reduction with CoolSculpting
- Select the appropriate applicator for the targeted area. Applicators come in various shapes and sizes to suit different body parts.
- Place the applicator on the targeted fat area. Cold energy at temperatures between -11 to -13 °C will be released to freeze fat cells. These fat cells, previously clustered densely, will break down and be destroyed.
- White blood cells in the body will eliminate the destroyed fat cells. These are converted into waste and expelled through the lymphatic system via natural processes such as excretion and sweat.
Areas Suitable for CoolSculpting
- Waistline, abdomen, upper arms, inner and outer thighs, back, bra line, etc.
- Individuals with stubborn fat unresponsive to diet or exercise
- Men with enlarged chests or excessive fat
Results After CoolSculpting

- 3 weeks after: gradual visible change
- 1–3 months after: noticeable body contour improvement
Treatment Duration
35–60 minutes per area
